- - Thomas John Douvres Jr, age 56 received his angel wings while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019, in Pensacola, FL. Born on December 25th, 1962 in Elgin, IL to Tom and Carol (Munson) Douvres. Tom married the love of his life, Terri Denise Mincey on January 24th, 1986 in Key Largo, FL. He is survived by his wife, Terri (Mincey) Douvres, children John (Dixie) Douvres, Amy Douvres Detwiler, Leah (James) Herbert, Teresa (Ray) Tyczki, his grandchildren Tyler, Alysa, Madie, Anthony, Katie, John Thomas and Conner, brother Jeff (Ruth) Douvres, niece Sarah (Travis) Little, nephews Michael (Sonatha) Douvres, Matthew (Mia) Douvres, mother-in-law Sherrolyn Mincey, father-in-law Bill (Myra) Mincey. After graduating from Plantation Key High School in Tavernier, FL he went on to obtain his Master Electrical license and took over his father's business Tom and Son's Electric. Tom's greatest accomplishment was passing this skill and his father's business down to his son, J.R. Tom was a big man with big hands and a big heart. A rock for his family, he was a rare and invincible man. He loved hunting and fishing, especially when bringing his kids and grandchildren with him. A provider for his family, he was a loyal husband and beloved friend. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, January 26th, 2019 at 1101 Ariola Dr, Pensacola Beach, FL at 2:00pm. In-lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent in memory of Tom to The Sacred Heart Foundation (attention to the Cancer Center: Greatest Need at PO Box 2700, Pensacola, FL 32513). A special thank you to the staff at the Sacred Heart Cancer Center for the care they provided during his final years.
