Paul Scherzer Obituary
He was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Troy to Louis and Irene (Gaesser) Scherzer.
Paul married Dolores Schaefer Aug. 3, 1957, in St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. He was a lifelong farmer and an Army veteran in the Korean War, who served with the 96th Infantry. Paul was also a member of St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366.
Paul is survived by his wife, Dolores; five sons, Randy Scherzer of St. Meinrad, Ronnie (Star) Scherzer of St. Meinrad, Gary (Joyce) Scherzer of Ferdinand, Gene (Diana) Scherzer of Claypool and Terry (Susie) Scherzer of St. Meinrad; one sister, Mary Louise Gogel of Mariah Hill and a brother, Robert (Margie) Scherzer of New Boston; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A grandson, Tyler 'T.J.' Joseph Scherzer, preceded Paul in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 3, in St. Meinrad Catholic Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. St. Meinrad American Legion Post 366 conducted military graveside rights.
