Johann L. Bontrager, 85, of rural Peru passed away at Community Howard Regional Hospital, Kokomo, IN. at 4:27 AM Friday, Oct. 8, 2021. She was born in Kokomo on Aug. 26, 1936, the daughter of Bernard and Alice Amos Federspill. Johann married John Bontrager on March 10, 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1997.

Johann was a 1954 graduate of Kokomo High School and a retired Delco employee. A woman of great faith and integrity she was an active member of the McGrawsville Community Church and the church was an important part of her life. Family was very important to Johann and she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her euchre club and loved traveling.

She is survived by sons Jeff Bontrager and his wife Tina of Westbrook, TX, Jerry Bontrager and his wife Jeanie of Lake St. Louis, MO and Joe Bontrager of Dallas, TX: a daughter Janis Bowman and her husband Jeff of Peru; grandchildren Lukas Bontrager, Dillan Bontrager, Emily (Jake) Brooks, Brandon Theimer, Andrew Bontrager, William Bontrager, Lindsey Bontrager, Sarah Bowman, Nathan (Cordelia) Bowman, John Bowman and Adam Bowman; a sister Patti Smith of Florida and sisters-in-law Fannie Brenneman and Alma Bontrager of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and brothers Bernard Federspill and Bob Federspill.

A service celebrating the life of Johann L. Bontrager will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 at the McGrawsville Community Church, 9377S 300E, Amboy, IN. with Dennis Harts officiating, Burial will be in the Rankin Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 3:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021 at the McGrawsville Community Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the McGrawsville Community Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru, IN.
