Roger Steele Blackman, 69, of Peru, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023 at The Waters of Muncie.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1953, in Peru, Indiana to Wayne Steele Blackman and Lillian Adele (Reuter) Blackman.
Roger graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1971. After high school he married and worked for the family business-Blackman Sales and Service. He was later employed by Ford Meter Box and eventually retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Roger is survived by his children: Stephanie (Austin) Schultz of Kokomo, Indiana, Lindsey (Jay) Leedy of Kokomo, Indiana, and Ashley Blackman of North Vernon, Indiana. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Addelynn Herche, Maddox Leedy, Amelia Leedy, Steele Schultz, and Grayson Trepanier. Roger is also survived by his brother, James Wayne (Lynette) Blackman of Hertford, North Carolina, his sister, Karen (Gary) Gholson of South Bend, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, from 4:00-6:00pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. A funeral service will follow at 6:00pm with Pastor Brian Daniels officiating. A private family burial will take place at Peoria Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peoria Church, 5575 East 325 South, Peru, Indiana.

Roger and I go back a ways back in our towing days. Over the years I want to think we were friends. Roger had taught me a lot about towing. I am sorry for your loss and I know he be missed by all.
