Addie Grant Obituary

PICKENS — Addie Lou Grant, 78, passed away at 9:20 PM Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 at her home in the Twelve Mile Community. Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late J. Walter and Addie Hudson Grant.

Miss Grant retired from Ryobi Manufacturing after over 42 years years of service and for eight years served as manager of The Pickens Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling with the Mt. Bethel Seniors Group.

A lifelong musician, Lou sang with her sisters as the Grant Trio. She was a member of Bethany Church of God where she was an assistant Sunday school teacher and served on the youth board.

Lou is survived by her twin sister, Katie Sue Grant of the home. Also surviving are two other sisters, Dorothy Dodgens and Elizabeth Eades and one brother, Joseph W. Grant all of Pickens as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Among her many friends, she is survived by special friends, Clyde and Becky Lyles, and Verne and Anne Winburn.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters, Bernice Couch, Bertha Townes, Veda Mae Townes and Inez Grant, and three brothers, Reverend James B. Grant, Cecil H. Grant, and Reverend Donald W. Grant.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens. Funeral services were conducted 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with The Reverend Roger Stephens and The Reverend Burch Kelly officiating.

Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. Nephews served as pallbearers. A message of condolence may be expressed to the family by visiting www.DillardFunerals.com.

Clyde, Anne, Vern and myself met the Grant family many years ago camping from that day on we have been family. Lou was always so jolly and happy, her love of life touched your heart. We have had many happy memories of Lou and her sister, her finger prints will forever be on our hearts. May God bless her family in this time of sorry.
