Allan Quinn

EASLEY — Allan Frederick Quinn, 74, of Easley, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Helena, Montana, with his girlfriend, Mary Ann Duncan of Liberty, South Carolina by his side.

Allan was born on the campus of Clemson University and raised in his beloved Easley, South Carolina. Leaving only to serve 10 years in The United States Army, where he served in Germany, Greece, and Korea in the nuclear weapons division. Allan loved The United States Army where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6).

Allan left The United States Army and returned home to Easley where he founded Easy Bend Farms. His love for Horses led him to host many South Carolina High School Rodeos at Easy Bend Farms from 1989 until 2003. This is where he fell in love with rodeo. He served as the National High School Rodeo director from 1989 to 2006.

Allan founded and was proud to host the biannual IPRA Easy Bend Farms and Rodeo in 1998. This has been a 25-year success at T. Ed Garrison Arena, Clemson University, where it has received the top 5 IPRA indoor rodeo honors several times, and as Allan would say, "the show must go on!"

Allan began working at The Duke Energy – Oconee Nuclear Station in 1978 in the Instrumentation Section, the division responsible for the engineered safeguard system and Plant Computer System Maintenance. In 1990 he was promoted to supervisor over several different I&C Teams. He remained in this position until his retirement in 2009 after 30 years.

Allan ran for the South Carolina Senate District 2 seat (Pickens County) in 2016 and for the South Carolina House District 5 in 2018, and 2020 as a Conservative Republican. His love for Pickens County ran deep leading him to become a founding member of The Pickens County Republican Club (recognized by the SCGOP) in 2021. The Pickens County Republican Club hosted multiple "Freedom Rally's" at Easy Bend Farms. Allan served as chairman of the Pickens County Republican Club until April 2023 when he passed on the torch, remaining active as the Vice Chairman.

Allan enjoyed spending the summers on Lake Keowee at his special place, "The Caddie Shack". He spent countless hours watching the birds come in off the lake to hover around his feeders and attempting to discover ways to keep the squirrels from stealing the bird's food. He especially enjoyed it when his family would spend the day or week with him. He was the captain of his pontoon and would gladly give guided tours of the lake, searching for that special island beach to park at for a few hours of swimming.

Allan was a member of The American Legion, Post 52, Easley, South Carolina where he served on the Honor Guard. He received the honor of a Quilt of Valor in 2022. He also was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Palmetto Sharpshooters Camp 1428, a charter member and founding board member of the South Carolina Horseman's Council, and a proud member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

He is survived by his children with Barbara Galloway, Heather Lynnette Quinn (Bramley Shawn Fisher) and Zachary Allan Quinn (Heather A. Quinn); a brother, Christopher Marvin Quinn (Ruby); a brother, Glyn Brant Quinn; a sister, Glynis Aileen Quinn; four grandchildren, Hope McCall, Claire Studley, Bryce Quinn, and Ayla Quinn; and two great-grandchildren, Addalyn and Alayna Whitaker.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan Blackmon Quinn; his father, John Marvin Quinn; and his mother, Aileen Brant Burnett.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial will follow at Robinson Memorial Gardens.
