Bernice Atkinson Obituary

CENTRAL — Bernice Juanita King Atkinson, 93, wife of the late Edward J. Atkinson, passed from this life Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.

Born in Westminster, she is a daughter of the late James King and Ida Harbin King. Mrs. Atkinson was a homemaker, a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Women's VFW Auxiliary in Pendleton.

Survivors include her son Gerald "Jerry" (Pam) Atkinson of Sunset, her daughter Carole Atkinson Maw of Six Mile, two step brothers; Jimmy (Dale) King, Gene King, a step sister Linda King Robinson, three grandchildren; Kimberly (Greg) Atkinson Sims of Studio City, Cali., Karen (Heath) Maw Hughes of Mills River, N.C., Chris (Pam) Maw of Lenoir, N.C., and six great-grandchildren; Cayla Hughes, Sarah Hughes, Kenny Maw, Douglas Maw, Kristen Maw, and Virginia Wray Sims.

Mrs. Atkinson was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and two sisters; Margie Boggs and Francis Honea.

Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018 in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. officiated by Reverend Johnathan McGary. The burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 421 SE Main St #100, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

Mountain View Funeral Home is serving the Atkinson family.
