CHESNEE — James Charles Wood, 82, of 211 Reynolds Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his residence.

Born in Pickens, S.C., he was the husband of Shirley Smith Wood of the home and son of the late James Wood and Ressie Ellenburg Wood. He retired from Duke Power Company, a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, a Mason with the Chesnee Lodge, and a member of State Line Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Rhonda Annette Wood of Chesnee; two brothers, Morris Wood (Jane) of Six Mile and Mark Wood (Sue) of Pickens; a sister, Earlene Meece (Buddy) of Pickens; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rilla Anthony and Blanch Burgess, and two brothers-in-law, Randall Anthony and Ivory Burgess.

Graveside services, with military honors, were held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in the State Line Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Preston Edmonds and Reverend Larry Fleming officiating. The family received friends following the service at the graveside. Social distancing and masks were requested.
