PIEDMONT — Douglas Giles Moody, 64, of Wyatt Road, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at his home, with his family by his side.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Lee Giles Moody and Alpha Skelton Moody.
Doug was retired from General Electric after 38 years of dedicated service and was a lifetime member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church. He enjoyed catching and raising snakes, repairing old pocket watches, building small ships and collecting and repairing electric trains. He was also a member of the Palmetto Live Steamers.
Surviving are his wife of the home, Joan Young Moody; a son, Justin Douglas Moody (Valerie) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Alexander Justin Moody and Petra Kirkland Moody; and sisters, Dorothy Merritt (Jim) of Easley, Barbara Bridges of Greenville, Faye Bryson of Piedmont, Louise Perry (Wayne) and Janice Perry (Doug) all of Easley; and a brother-in-law, Gary Fowler of Piedmont.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Fowler; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Bridges.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Mt. Airy Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family received friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 210 Mt. Airy Church Road, Easley, SC 29642 or Interim Hospice, 16 Hyland Road, Greenville, SC 29615.
