BILLY JORDAN

1953 - 2024

William "Billy" Augustus Jordan III, 70, of Louisiana Mo., tragically passed away Nov. 14 2024, outside of Vandalia, Mo. Bill was born Nov. 28 1953, to the Late William "Duck" A. Jordan Jr. and Ethel Mae (Penrod) Jordan both of Louisiana, Mo.

His son, William "BJ" A. Jordan IV, and great granddaughter, Kinsley, died earlier.

Bill is survived by his wife, Candy Jordan, his daughter, Michelle (Walter) Crowder, of Louisiana, son, James Jordan, of Moscow Mills, son, Timothy (Tara) Jordan, of Louisiana, daughter, Casey Wommack, of Bowling Green, and daughter, Lindsay Jordan, of Louisiana. Bill was surrounded and loved by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, Halie, Madison, Kindell, CJ, Justin, Camren, Kaelynn Grace, Macey, Lane, Jaxson, Emma, Olivia, Rylan, Cora, and Rowan. He is also survived by his brother, Dale (Barb) Jordan, of Louisiana and his sister, Julie (Tom) Crane, of Pleasant Hill, Ill., as well as many nieces and nephews and a lot of cousins.

Bill was an All-State and All Conference multiple sport athlete for the Louisiana Bulldogs. He received many awards and accolades for football, basketball, baseball, track and golf over his years attending Louisiana High School, including a few close runs to state championships for football and holding a pole-vaulting record for track for many years. As an adult, he continued to excel as an athlete in golf where he was the assistant golf pro at Riverchase Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. There, he worked on perfecting his skill to earn his PGA Tour Card. He had the opportunity to play golf with some of the greats and those were some of his fondest memories. When he returned to Pike County, he continued to golf at Pike County Country Club where he has had a hole-inone and shares the same honor at the course as his Late Father "Duck." He also spent many nights at the Louisiana Bowling Alley where he showcased his talents as an excellent bowler. Bill has bragging rights of bowling a perfect 300 not only once but twice.

Billy was the true definition of a "Jack of all Trades" and was good at anything he did. Throughout his life he held many different jobs and hobbies. Including the meat cutter at J&M grocery, coal mining for Gunther Nash, P&S electric, bartending at all the local hot spots, golf pro/instructor at many golf courses, member of the PGA tour and other golf circuits, owning his own Golf Driving Range "Cross Creek", logging and working at Country Gardens with his family.

Billy enjoyed his time with his family and friends. He spent a lot of time in his teen and younger adult years with his dad, brother Dale and the Cotton's Camp crew where they enjoyed all things hunting fishing and trapping. As Bill got older, he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and watching them play all the sports he loved and passed down his love for the outdoors. It was his honor to take his kids and his grandchildren to their first STL Cardinals game, Blues game, horse race or out hunting to get their first deer or turkey. He loved to go mushroom hunting and taking the kids in the woods. He liked to use the extra eyes to help beat his sister Julie to see who could find the first mushroom of the year. He was very proud of his big family and would brag about them any chance he could.

Over the past 10 years Billy grew his family by a whole community. He started to drive for the local Amish community and they quickly became family to him. He spent a lot of his time with them and he loved what he did. He has driven all over the country and was able to see so many destinations with his new extended family. The friendships he developed have been strong and very meaningful to him.

As you know Billy did not know a stranger and almost always had a smile on his face. He treated people as if they were family and would do anything for anyone. He had a big heart and enjoyed his time here on earth. He always wanted people to live life to the fullest, enjoy every moment and be kind.

Services were be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Louisiana, Mo. Burial followed at the Jordan- Buffalo Cemetery near Louisiana, Mo. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Honorary pallbearers were Dale Jordan, Jim Murr, Johnny Kelso, Tommy Fowler, Members of Twin Pike County County Clubs, Monroe City and Hannibal Golf Courses, and Amish Community. Active pallbearers were C.J. Crowder, Justin Wommack, Camren Adams, Lane Jordan, Jaxson Wommack, and Rylen Charlton.

Memorials may be made to the Jordan-Buffalo Cemetery or the Louisiana Alumni Association. Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
