DONALD HEIENS Obituary

Donald "Don" R. Heiens, 83, of Bristolville, OH, went home to his Lord and Savior Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born February 15, 1942 in Wood River, IL, to the late Victor and Jessie (nee Hatcher) Heiens.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Don met the love of his life, Joy Watkins, at the Winchester Western Corp., in East Alton, IL. After marrying in 1962, they started the journey of raising the family in 1968, with their first daughter, Paula, and Susan followed in 1975. Don, Joy, and the girls made many homes in the U.S., and ended up settling in Bristolville, OH, their first permanent home. Don was a strong man who loved his country, doted on his family and friends, and most of all, he loved God.
Don will forever be missed by his loving wife, Joy Heiens, who was blessed to share 62 years of marriage; daughters, Paula (Chris) Saddler and Susan (Jason Hines, AKA "Big Man") Heiens; grandchildren, James Salmons, Andrew (Kourtney) Salmons, Timothy Hurst; great grandchildren, Aurora, Aliciia, Brett; sister-in-law, Linda Roberts; brother-in-law, Rodger Watkins, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ellen Ballard, and brother, James Heiens.
Per his wishes, Don is to be cremated. Services for Don were private, and were entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
