Adam Kippes Obituary

Adam Albert Kippes was born September 17, 1953 to John August Kippes and Ruth Sears Kippes. With his wife and children by his side, he went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane and four children: Adam John, Kirsten Correll (Jeremiah), Aaron (Ashley), and Shannon Brooks (Anthony); four grandchildren: Anthony Jr, Jayden, Noah and Elizabeth; His brothers: Mark (Therese), Steve, John (Laura) and Sam (Dawn); and numerous nieces and nephews. Adam was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and Naval Post-Graduate School, earning his Master’s Degree in Meteorology and Oceanography. He served his country and retired as a Lieutenant Commander after 22 years in the United States Navy. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, bright smile, and passion for knowledge. Adam was an avid Notre Dame football and Boston Celtics basketball fan which he enjoyed with his sons. His daughters were the light of his life, his grandchildren were his greatest joy, and his wife was his best friend and love of his life. It has brought great peace to his wife and children that Adam has passed with the gift of Salvation and was received at Heaven’s gate as a new believer in Christ. His presence will be deeply missed by all those who love him but he is rejoicing with our Lord and his family will be with him again. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11a.m. at New Life Church, 423 Shell Road Chesapeake, VA 23323 with Pastor Melvin McCleese officiating followed by military honors. Graham Funeral Home & Cremation Services will be caring for arrangements. Please leave a condolence to the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.com

Adam's wife, Diane was a most dear friend, sharing her home and family with me. I grew to know Adam most fondly too. So startled to learn of his passing just today 9/19/19.

I knew him as Skip Kippes. A real gentleman.

My sympathy to the family and friends of Mr Kippes. I had the privilege of serving with Mr. Kippes on the USS Conolly from '82-'85 as a young seaman. He was a fine officer. Chris Engle OSC(SW) USN Retired.
