Albert Atkins Obituary

Albert G. Atkins VIRGINIA BEACH - Albert G. Atkins, 72, passed away Oct. 23, 2010 in his home. Born in Norfolk, he was the son of the late Pebbin and Pearl Atkins. Albert was a member of the Mill Run Golf Course in Moyock, N.C. Albert leaves behind to cherish his memory his two children, Timothy A. Atkins and his wife Diane of Mechanicsville, Va., and Theresa A. Parker and her husband Glenn of Aylett, Va.; five grandchildren, Patrick, Benjamin, Bryan, Shawn, and Joseph; and two sisters, Gloria Walker and her husband Huck of Chesapeake, and Shirley Van Horn, also of Chesapeake. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Mary Ellen Gies Atkins, and his brother, Herbert Foster Jr. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Rosewood Memorial Park with the Rev. Kenneth Barnes officiating. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.
