Alma Rideout Obituary
Franklin - Alma Ruth Vaughan Rideout, 87, of Walters Highway, died December 28, 2012. A native of St. Johns, NC, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Rideout, Sr.; parents, Carl Bruce and Hattie Belle Vaughan; and a sister, Jessie V. Harrison. Mrs. Rideout was co-owner of the former Holland-Rideout Funeral Home. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class, Melvin Bradshaw Circle, former leader of the Beaver Dam Share Group, Eager Beavers Senior Citizens, Franklin High Street Senior Citizens, and Woodmen of the World Holly Lodge #18.
Survivors include four children, Robert W. Rideout, Jr. ( Judy) of Richmond, Benjamin V. Rideout of Franklin, C. Bruce Rideout (Tricia) of Suffolk, and Ruth R. Whitley (Ed) of Franklin; six grandchildren, Trae Rideout, Jason Rideout (Michelle) , Stephanie Rideout-Cross (Brian), Kimberly Rideout, Jessie Whitley and Gail Whitley; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Carley, Jake and Owen; two step-great-grandchildren, Katie and Ronnie; special niece, Angela H. Smithwick; special friends, Linda Brinkley and Esther Beale; and medical providers, Kristie Holt, Matt Silver and Colleen Keller.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 31, at 2 PM in Beaver Dam Baptist Church by the Rev. Warren Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Sunday from 3 - 4:30 PM. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Suffolk is handling arrangements.
