Ann Brothers Obituary

Ann A. Brothers VIRGINIA BEACH - Ann Alligood Brothers, 82, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009. Born in Norfolk, she was the widow of James Colon Brothers after 47 years of marriage and the daughter of the late Leslie Cotton and Irene Todd Alligood. A former resident of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., she retired as manager of the White Marlin Motel in Nags Head, N.C. She formerly worked as a clerk with the Virginia Beach city treasurer's office. Mrs. Brothers attended Nimmo United Methodist Church and loved candles and gardenias. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by two daughters, Deborah B. Caton and husband Brian of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Dianne Brothers of Virginia Beach; a son, James C. "Jimbo" Brothers Jr. of State Farm, Va.; a granddaughter, Kimberly Elizabeth Caton of Virginia Beach; and a sister, Jacqueline Seay of King, N.C. Memorial services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. in Nimmo United Methodist Church, 2200 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, 740 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Online condolences may be offered to the family through www.swindellfuneralhome.com. Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services of Hertford, N.C., is serving the Brothers family.

I lived across the street from you in Oceana during the 50's. I do remember your mother and can actually picture what she looked like then. I have seen Dianne a few times in the last few years. I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I hope everyone in the family is doing well.
