Arlethia Biggs Obituary
Portsmouth - Arlethia Biggs known also by "Letha" passed away on April 18, 2016. She was born May 2, 1952 to Arlethia Whitley and the late Arthur Whitley in Portsmouth, VA. Letha was educated in the Portsmouth Public School system and graduated from I. C. Norcom High School, Class of 1969. She was a past president of the I. C. Norcom Alumni Association. Letha received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Norfolk State University and then became a teacher for Portsmouth Public Schools for 34 years. She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, Gust Lane where she was a Junior Missionary leader and Senior Missionary as well as a Greeter. Arlethia was predeceased by her father, Arthur and her sisters, Helen, Barbara and Gloria. She is survived by her sons, Dartanyon Biggs (Nikia) and Desmond Biggs; her mother, Arlethia Whitley; sister, Beverly Kelley; brother, Tyrone Whitley and granddaughter, Alexia Parker. A funeral service will be held 11am, Monday April 25, 2016 at The Hope Center, 1425 Gust Lane, Chesapeake, VA 23323. A viewing will be held noon to 5pm, Sunday April 24, 2016 at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Portsmouth, Blvd.

Sorry for the loss of Mrs. Arlethia Biggs she will be truly missed. I haven't seen her in many years. Mrs.Biggs was my 5th grade teacher at Brighton Elementary School. Ms.Biggs was the best teacher ever, I was her favorite student then. I remember Mrs. Biggs would leave me in charge of her class when she would have to go out of the class. I also remember going to Mrs. Biggs house to help her out and braiding her hair, when she lived on Chestnut Street. I love you Mrs. Biggs and may you Rest in Paradise.

Rip ms.biggs my favorite teacher at hunt mapp.we had nothing but fun in school I was heading dwn a bad path and u made me a better person today.lol we used to b going back and forth over the candy goo goo clusters and I love them to this day.
