Virginia Beach - Arthur McMillion Lukens, 89, passed away on April 14, 2012.
Born on Sept 15, 1922 in Akron, OH to the late Arthur Macy Lukens and Maude McMillion Lukens. He was predeceased by his sister Maryanne. He graduated from Lane Technical H.S. in 1940. Arthur served in the U.S. Army. He graduated O C Class 468 on July 12, 1945, and commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Infantry.
In 1953 "Art" joined the Simplex Time Recorder Co as a sales representative. That position lasted until Aug 12, 1978 when he sustained a spinal cord injury, at which time he retired.
Art met Margaret "Peggy" Wall of Chicago in 1940 during her last year at Lakeview H.S. They became engaged in 1943 after Art joined the Army. They were married on March 8, 1944 in Wilmette, IL, while Art was stationed at
Camp Chaffee, AR. He was predeceased by his lovely wife Margaret in Feb. 2011.
Survivors include sons, Richard Lukens and his wife Linda of Clifton, VA, John Lukens of Maple Grove, MN, Geoffrey Lukens and his wife Candyce of Winchester, VA, Christopher Lukens of Virginia Beach; 3 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and 3 step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by granddaughter, Heather Lukens. Art will be greatly missed by his family, who are blessed to know he is reunited with Peggy and our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in Heaven.
After Art took up residence at the V.A. Medical Center Hampton, Art and Peggy began attending LaCrosse Memorial Presbyterian Church, Hampton, VA.
