Although I only knew of Asher from my mother and her family, I know he was beloved by all the Glassers. What a fascinating and full life he led! My sympathies and prayers extend to all who were near and dear to him.

I wish to offer my condolences on the passing of Asher. I was one of his patients and one of his tennis friends at the Fergus Reid Courts where he played every Wednesday, weather permitting, for years. He was an excellent doctor, an accomplished tennis player and a good friend. When I first started playing tennis at Fergus Reid in the late seventies I was not a very good player. Asher was the first of the good players who regularly played there to invite me to play and pick me as his partner in doubles. One particular event I remember was when Asher was in his late 50s he invited a young man in his early twenties to play. It was obvious that the young man was brimming with confidence and fully expected to win convincingly. Asher beat him in very short order much to the young mans surprise and chagrin. However, there was not the least bit of gloating or preening from Asher. He simply shook hands and thanked his opponent for the match. He was a good player and a better sportsman. He was a credit to his community and family. Sincerely yours, Billy Stevens

The words to describe “Doc” would be a scholar, a gentleman, and a true friend with an infectious smile. However, his best quality would be the incredible devotion he had for you Ellyn-Mae and he did not mind letting the world know it. Our hearts go out to the entire family at this time and hope you find comfort now and days to come. Doc, you will be sorely missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
Rest in Peace dear friend.

The sky is crying rain today to mourn the loss of such a great man. Dr Friedman certainly left the legacy of a man of intelligence, morals and ethics, respect and honor of his Jewish faith and heritage, devotion to his wife and family, and a medical practice which reflected professionalism and true caring about his patients. His spirit of excellence in all aspects of his life was a shining star.
