Barbara T. Sawyer BARCO - Barbara Tatem Sawyer, 79, of the 100 block of Ed Sawyer Lane, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk. Born in Currituck County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Peter A. and Ruth Hazel Stewart Tatem and was the wife of Mr. Robert Glenn Sawyer Sr. of the residence. She was a member of Coinjock Baptist Church. Along with her husband, Mrs. Sawyer is survived by her sons, Robert Glenn Sawyer Jr. and wife Julie of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Donald Wayne Sawyer and wife Heidi of Waterlily, N.C.; grandchildren, Robert Glenn Sawyer III, Mary Elizabeth Charlish, Jesse Sawyer, and Katie Sawyer; and great- grandchildren, Robert Glenn Sawyer IV and Jack Douglas Charlish. A funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. in Coinjock Baptist Church, 193 Worth Guard Road, Coinjock, N.C., with the Rev. Charles Wellons and Mr. Wayne Twiford officiating. Burial will be in the Sawyer Family Cemetery, Barco, N.C. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and at other times at the residence.
