Blake Kappers Obituary

Blake Platt Kappers VIRGINIA BEACH - Blake Platt Kappers, a former resident of Kings Grant, went home to the family of his heavenly Father July 29, 2009. His memory lives on through his devoted wife, Courtney Kappers; daughter, Blake Elizabeth; parents, Mel and Gretchen Allmond, father, Ron Kappers; and brother, Brock Kappers. Blake was a handsome, energetic, and funny guy who could light up a room with his smile. Blake's passions were his family and Croatan. He graduated from First Colonial High School in 2001 and was a member of Kings Grant Presbyterian Church. A celebration of his life will be held at Kings Grant Presbyterian Church Saturday, Aug. 1, at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to either the Blake Elizabeth Kappers trust or Root and Wings Campaign. Cremation Society of Virginia, Hampton Roads office, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.cremate.org.

I was just sharing a story about you with my son a few days ago. I was reminiscing about a funny trip to the grocery store; you, me, and Kim. You skipping through the store proclaiming that you were Sunkist and Kim peeing herself laughing. Good times, indeed! I think of you often and will always remember our deep conversations. So sorry to hear about this awful loss,I worked with blake for many years and can remember his jokes of our mutual boss,and rapping of a tribe called quest.. he knew all the lines and would spontaneously spit out a rap for my entertainment .Although we only surfed together once i was aware of his love for the ocean and croatan. His legacy will live forever and i Hope to never forget him and the times we spent together

I am so saddened to hear about Blake. My heart aches for him, your family, and little Blake. Blake was a great friend to our family and a wonderful person.
