BLANCHE CAPLAN

CAPLAN, Blanche (Nevens) Of Worcester, MA, passed away on October 19, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Jack Caplan for 59 years, Blanche was also predeceased by her parents, Mollie and Alex Nevens. Blanche was the devoted mother of Ira and his wife Andrea, and Lee and his wife Lisbeth. She was the dear grandmother of Alyssa, Jonathan, Jennie, Andrew, Alex and Joshua. Born in New York, Blanche moved to Worcester when she married Jack and was a resident for 68 years. For many years she was employed as a bookkeeper and later as a salesperson for Filene's/Macy's and Ralph Lauren. Blanche was a fan of fashion and shared this love with her devoted sister, Shirley. She thoroughly enjoyed going to the movies and the theater, although she was just as happy going for a ride with Jack. Her most precious times were when the whole family gathered at her home for dinner. She lived by the motto, "do the best that you can" and that she did. Everyone who met Blanche would exclaim that she was "the kindest and sweetest" woman they'd ever met, and for that she will be forever remembered. Private graveside services will be held at B'Nai Brith Cemetery, St John's Road, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609, as the family is quite grateful for Blanche's wonderful care by the staff for the last years of her life.
