Brian Bowles Obituary

Brian Joseph Bowles, 79, died peacefully in his sleep January 20, 2022. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Bowles, his grandson, Joseph and his in-laws Ace and Kitty Campbell.

Brian was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. He studied to be an industrial chemist and began his career as a power plant chemist. His career extended beyond England and included Saudi Arabia, USNB Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and Iraq. He met his wife, Coleen, in GTMO and spent the next 30 years in Virginia Beach working outside his professional field and enjoying life.

Left to keep his memory close to their heart are his wife, Coleen, son David (Nicola), daughters Melanie, Louise (Nathan), step daughter Dr. Jennifer Schero (Gregg), Carol, (ex wife), 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brother John, golfing buddy Richard and his loving rescue dogs Otis and Campbell.

Brian will be cremated, with his ashes being returned to Norwich for burial with his parents. Services will be held at a later date. In his name, please make a donation to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org), Special Olympics (impact.specialolympicsva.org/fundraiser/3635980), or National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (suicidepreventionlifeline.org). I have such fond memories of Brian with his witty charm and high intellect! Please know how very sorry I am Coleen and know that I am here for you always as you have been here for all of us. Thank you for dedicating donations to Special Olympics of Va. What an amazing life he had and will continue to hold memories for all. God Bless you Coleen.
