Charles R. Thompson NORFOLK - Charles Russell Thompson, 67, of the 7700 block of Gloucester Ave., departed this life June 18, 2009. Born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Rebecca Bowman Thompson and Charlie Murphy Thompson. He is survived by three sons, Imamu Tyler, wife Tammy of Virginia Beach, Charles B. Johnson of Norfolk and Travis S. Shelton of Laurel, Md.; two daughters, Juanita L. Thompson of Norfolk and Chikita M. Thompson of Laurel, Md.; three brothers, Junius L. Thompson Sr., wife Ethel of Chesapeake, Joseph A. Thompson, wife Shirley of Ringgold, Va.; and an adopted brother, Chester Waller Sr. of New Orleans, La.; 10 grandchildren; one great- granddaughter; four nephews, Junius L. Thompson Jr., Barry Thompson Sr., Corey Thompson Sr., and Kimani M. Thompson; two nieces, Ronalisa Thompson and Cheryl Thompson; several cousins and a host of relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Logan Park, 7493 Diven St., Norfolk. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
