Christopher Ryan Sabens

Christopher Ryan Sabens passed away suddenly on September 26, 2023, at the age of 41. He was serving as Chief Fire Control Aegis (Surface Warfare) with the U.S. Navy. Chris lived his life for his family and friends. Even when he was away, his phone calls and text messages made people feel that he was close by. If you knew Chris, you always felt loved and important to him. He brought lots of laughs and gave the best hugs in the world.

Chris is survived by his children: Nik and Lilli, his parents: Charles and Mary, his brother Charlie and wife Lindsey, his brother David and wife Rachel, his sister Elizabeth and husband Joe, his nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends thankful to know him, especially his best friends: Joey and Steve.

Chris is also survived by his wife of 5 beautiful, love-filled years: Jennifer Rose. They shared 4 kitty-kids: Mew Mew, Molly Head, Sir Cheesey Poof, and Tallulah More Dew. Chris had served 19 years in the U.S. Navy at the time of his death. Being so close to retirement, Jen and Chris dreamed of owning a boat and sailing the seas together. To honor this dream, Chris' memorial service was held on the beach at Little Creek Base in Norfolk on October 11, 2023. A reception was held at Longboards East Beach Waterfront and Tiki Bar where Jen and Chris worked as bartenders. The day concluded on the Chesapeake Bay with a Viking-style send-off.

Chris will be remembered as a loyal friend, compassionate listener, entertaining bartender, dependable co-worker, talented singer and musician, super dad, cat dad, devoted son, sweet brother, and the most handsome, loving husband. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Chris. We love you, and we will never forget you. Until we meet again....
