Clemon Wesley Obituary

Clemon H. Wesley Jr. NORFOLK - Clemon H. Wesley Jr. was the third of eight children born to Clemon and Zannie Wesley, sharecroppers deep in the heart of Texas. He described himself as a maverick adventurer, gliding just below the radar during the last half century, blazing trails less traveled by the masses. He spent his elementary, secondary and undergraduate years in segregated schools prior to passage and implementation of the 1954 United States Supreme Court School Desegregation decision. His graduate studies were highlighted by his Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Laws. His military studies culminated in graduation from the Armed Forces Staff College and the Army War College. He experienced two remarkable careers as an Army officer and an entrepreneur. During his military career, he pioneered the automation of stock record accounting in Army battlefield logistics units during the Vietnam conflict and retired as a regular Army colonel with 24 years of service. Immediately after his Army retirement in 1982, Clemon formed TEXCOM Inc., a diversified telecommunications corporation focused on computer networks and telephone systems. TEXCOM has been a pioneer in the minority business community for the past 25 years and grossed in excess of $300 million dollars. He remained loyal to his educational roots by initiating the creation of a memorial to his secondary school and serving as the president of his undergraduate class during the Golden Anniversary of their graduation. Clemon attended Prairie View A&M College in Prairie View, Texas, where he met and married Modestine Truvillion Wesley, shortly after his first year in the Army. From that union three children were born. Clemon leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Yolanda Wesley and Deborah Hall; one son, Eric Wesley (Ruth); five grandchildren, Wesley Lovell Harper, Kaylyn Renay Wesley, Logan Alexander Wesley, Robert Austin Wesley and Kennedy Elizabeth Wesley; one sister, Mae Clark; three brothers, William Wesley (Minnie), Curtis Wesley (Barbara) and Raymond Wesley; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends His contributions to his family, his race and all humankind are unique and remarkable. A memorial will be held Saturday in his hometown of Hawkins, Texas. The homegoing service will be held Tuesday, April 28, at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. in First Christian Community Church, 1800 Hall Brown Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 and internment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Reese and Sons Mortuary are handling the arrangements.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathies for your loss. As you grieve know that I am honoring the memory of Mr.Clemon Wesley. He was a an outstanding kind hearted individual that had one important thing in mind; an absolute sense of mission. People will remember and honor Mr. Clemon Wesley for what he has done, not for what he had plan to do. As he would say "It is what it is". May the Lord bring comfort and peace to the Wesley family and know that he is now with his "Heavenly Father".

God Bless,
Sharon Hill-Edwards

Mr. Wesley was a man full of exceeding honors who will be greatly missed. He always advised me to take advantage of education. It was a pleasure to work for someone who was so ambitious at making things happen. Peace to all of the family members. May you carry on the legacy that Mr. Wesley left .... which is achievement in all that you put your hand forth to do.

Mr. Wesley was a wonderful man to work for. He made a great difference in my life and I will never forget the wonderful times I had at Texcom, Inc. especially at the picnics and Christmas parties. He took good care of his employees. He would always let us know if you work hard you can accomplish anything. Mr. Wesley was like a father too us all. He will truly be missed. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived?
