Corazon Palad Obituary

Corazon Sunglao Palad, also known as Cora, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022. She was born on March 29th, 1941 in Floridablanca, Pampanga, Philippines to Pablo and Romana Sunglao. She was the sixth of seven children. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 53 years, Gervacio Palad, her two daughters and sons-in law, Ann & David Granger and Debbie & Evan Flint, as well as five grandchildren, Jocelyn, Nolan, and Nora Granger and Lucas and Malcolm Flint as well as her youngest sister, Estelita Hopkins, and other relatives in the Philippines and US. Cora was an expert seamstress. At a young age, she taught herself how to sew and opened ‘Cora's Dress Shop' when she was just 18 years old in Olongapo City, Philippines. When she was 28 years old, she married the love of her life, Gervacio Palad and immigrated to the United States in 1970. She was a military wife, a homemaker and continued her career as a private dressmaker. She later went onto to work at Tiffany Bridal & Formal for 27 years helping countless brides alter their wedding gowns for their special day. Cora was also a phenomenal cook and gracious host, known to always bring the best food to all the potlucks. She often sent people home with not only full bellies, but full takeout containers. She was also an active member of the Pampango Language Club (PLC) of Virginia and a faithful parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church for over 40 years. Cora was a devout Catholic who loved God. During COVID lockdown, her daily routine included watching mass online every morning and praying the rosary every evening. Most of all, Cora will be remembered for being a devoted wife, a loving mother, a beloved grandmother and a loyal friend who loved her family and friends immensely. Corazon literally means ‘heart' in Spanish and her loving presence will be missed dearly.
