I was just talking to my mom yesterday about David. I thought I would do an internet search to see what he was up to these days...never did I imagine that I would find this. I am overwhelmed with sadness that such a wonderful person would be taken so soon. I have many great memories of Dave. My heart goes out to the entire Hierholzer family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Just hearing about this years later. Used to ride the roads with Dave during our wrestling days together, and he was truly a great guy to be around at all times. We marveled at how he took the goofy gimmick he was handed and embraced it, enjoyed it, and made it hilarious. Great guy, sad news.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I used to live on the same court as David in elementary school. Him and I were friends from kindergarten up through high school. My last memory of him was seeing him at the recent 10 year high school reunion. I pray for grace and mercy for your family. He was a fun guy and a good friend.

We were high school buddies- sat at the same lunch tables, shared classes together, cheated off each others homework and made jokes any time we could.
Dave, what a warm hearted individual. Always charming and funny. Gentle giant, in fact. He and his great sense of humor will surely be missed.

My deepest condolences to his family.

I would like to extend sincerest condolences to all of Dave’s family and friends, as I too am very saddened by this.

I first met Dave as a fellow competitor in the teenage division at the 1998 IPA World Cup. He barely edged me out for the distinction of “Best Teenage Lifter” – something that Dave never let me forget . Imagine my surprise when I should find his name on the list of incoming PharmD students for the class of 2008. Over the next several years we became good friends. I am left with many great memories, from training with Dave, hanging out, trips to Delaware, and an unforgettable conference in Utah.

Dave, I’m going to miss you.

I was one of Dave's classmates from pharmacy school. Although Dave and I sat at the opposite sides of the class, I had the opportunity to work with him on our pharmacology debate during our 2nd year. Although it was a rocky start, I had the chance to get to know Dave who was very encouraging and left me with a great memory the day we presented. Rest in peace, big guy.

Our wonderful memories of David will carry us through this difficult time. I remember taking long walks with him and having some wonderful conversations...while waiting for Melissa to get off work. He loved his steaks and each time he came I made sure I had enough for dinner and for breakfast. I loved that big, beautiful boy and my heart aches for this huge loss and his wonderful family.

I met Dave 6 years ago, and he truly changed my outlook on life from day 1. After a few years for both of us to rebuild, we came in contact again and he helped me through some of the hardest times in my life. I was so proud of him for all the things he has been able to not only accomplish, but overcome. He was a great, great man, and a great friend, and I will miss him dearly.

My prayers go out to his family.

I knew Dave for the past 3 years...I was lucky to share a whole year with him and one of our other guy friends as his one girl roommate. I remember when we first moved into the apartment in Baltimore City a couple of years ago. I only had my desk moved in at the time...I remember coming home from work, and there was his body-building picture in a frame staring at me on my desk. I still laugh to this day at the memory of that picture, and then I remember him coming out of his room, beaming, and saying "just call me He-man! I'll be your He-man!" It's memories like this one that help to ease the sadness at a time like this...

All of my thoughts and prayers are with Dave's family and friends. We love you Big Dave, and we will miss you...

I remember meeting Dave for the second time in my life (9 years ago) when our mothers set us up. He was quite impressive, to say the least. I took him around and made him flex for all of my friends. I think he got a chuckle out of that :). He was an excellent friend to me and there when I needed him throughout the following years. This world has suffered a great loss and saying goodbye is hard.
