David L. Jones

1956 - 2021

Chesapeake - David Lee Jones, 65, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 15, 2021. Born on May 22, 1956, in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late William Bartlett and Elizabeth Carey Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William B. Jones Jr., his sister, Dianne J.T. Frost, his eldest niece, Jennifer J. Eason, and his brothers-in-law, Stuart A. Tripp Jr. and James L. Frost. Sadly, David's fiancée, Jennifer Ann O'Connell, also perished in the accident which claimed his life.

David is survived by his beloved stepdaughters, Crystal H. Rudloff and her husband, Rob, of Holly Springs, N.C. and Christina H. Anderson and her husband, Ryan, of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren Faith A. Anderson, R. Tyler Anderson, Lillian J. Rudloff, Cara M. Rudloff, Halleigh J. Anderson, Brooklyn R. Anderson, and Leo R. Rudloff; his sister, Carol J. Gardner and her husband, Charles, of Midlothian, VA; nieces Elizabeth J. Dudley and Carey T. Scott; nephews Stuart A. Tripp III, Ryan C. Gardner, and Grant A. Gardner; his former wife, Patricia B. Jones, and many other treasured relatives.

As an ardent advocate of Old Dominion University and passionate scholar, David received a B.S. in Business Administration, a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, and an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from that institution. His love of ODU athletic programs was legendary.

David, who was formerly employed as an Appraiser for First Virginia Bank of Hampton Roads, was a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser for the City of Chesapeake at the time of his death. His professional certifications included the IAAO Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES), IAAO Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS), and Commonwealth of Virginia Certified General Appraiser.

He was a lifelong communicant of Church of the Epiphany in Norfolk, having been an acolyte in his youth, and was serving as a member of the Vestry. His belief in the Church's mission was firm.

David was a classical music enthusiast and longtime supporter of the Feldman Chamber Music Society Concert Series, serving as an officer and member of the Board of Directors. His classical music collection was a rich source of joy.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 30th, at 2:00 p.m. in Church of the Epiphany, 1530 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, conducted by the Rev. Richard Bridgford and the Rev. Julia Ashby. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
