I worked with Mr. Kippenbrock at The Virginian-Pilot for many of my years there - I absolutely adored that man and loved the amount of time he would share with me regarding all things journalistically. His knowledge and advise in all things dealing with life were not lost on me. Honored to have known this man. So Sorry for his family's loss.

I was honored to work with Kipp on the copy desk at The Virginian-Pilot. He was a true newspaperman, the embodiment of "institutional knowledge." My sincerest condolences to the family.

I worked with David for more than 30 years at The Ledger-Star, then The Virginian-Pilot. He was a gentleman and a source of knowledge about all things local. A dependable, loyal copy editor, he was a real asset to the paper and to the readers we served. Rest in peace, David.
