Deborah Harrison Obituary

Deborah M. Harrison, 68, of Chesapeake, went to be with the Lord, Friday, November 26, 2021. Born in Newport News, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Loring V. and Edith M. Moyer. She was also predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Rev. Wayne C. Harrison, whom she met while attending Averett University. Debby was a retired teacher, having taught 30 years in the public school system, and 10 years at Gloria Dei Lutheran School. Through her life's work as a teacher, but also a pastor's wife, she befriended many colleagues, students and their families. She was a member of Churchland Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a woman of faith who loved the Lord, enjoying summer travels with her family, who had a love for toy poodles. Most of all, she will be remembered for her devotion to her family. Survivors include her daughter, Holly N. Scroggins and husband, Spencer; a granddaughter, Ashley who affectionately called her Meemaw; a brother-in-law, Fenton W. Harrison and wife, Melinda; a sister-in-law, Star H. Helms and husband, Keith; a long-time friend, Kimberly Winget and family, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A reception will follow the service at Great Bridge Baptist Church, Chesapeake. The interment will be at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, Virginia. Friends are invited to sign the online guest book at www.omanfh.com
