Doris James Obituary

Doris M. James NORFOLK - Doris M. James passed away Aug. 16, 2009, in the Norfolk Health Care Center. She was a native of Bertie County, North Carolina, and along with her brother, Joe L. Bazemore they owned Park Restaurant (Roberts Park) located on Princess Anne Road, Norfolk. Her last place of employment was Kmart in Norfolk, where she held the position of greeter. She was predeceased by her parents, William and May Louis Bazemore; grandparents, Thornton and Mary Askew who raised her; son, Le Andrew Keemer; and brother, William Bazemore. Doris was a faithful member of Full Gospel Church of Deliverance. She participated in the following ministries: The Choir, The Missionary Board and The Noon-Day Prayer Service. She is survived by her husband, Alexander James; brother, Joe L. Bazemore and wife Juanita Frances; sister-in-law, Ann Bazemore; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Keemer; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles and dedicated church family and a host of wonderful friends. The celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at Full Gospel Church of Deliverance by the Rev. Ernest S. Martin. The remains will be ready for viewing today from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be held at Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery, Chesapeake. The family will assemble at 1 p.m. at 237 Dexter St. East for the procession. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Homes, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. www.carlosahowardfuneralhomes.com.

James and Kevin - your grandmother was a wonderful and great women in SPIRIT and her love for the both of you was very deep. Keep the precious memories always close to your heart because I will love her always as a MOTHER.....
