Virginia Beach - Dylan M. Rowell 19, passed away unexpectedly, January 31, 2022 in Harrisonburg, VA. He was born October 11, 2002 in Norfolk, VA. He is survived by his parents, Joseph W. Rowell and Dorothy C. Rowell, his brother, Parker A. Rowell, his sister, borther-in-law and nephews, Courtney R. Ricksecker, Bryan Ricksecker, Chandler Ricksecker and Josh Ricksecker, grandfather Arthur H. Quarnstrom, Jr, grandmother Ann Ellis, Aunts Beth Coffield and Sandy Burnett, and Uncle and Aunt J.W. Rowell and Carolyn Rowell. He was predeceased by his grandmother Marie K. Quarnstrom.

Dylan attended Norfolk Collegiate School and was a 2020 graduate of Princess Anne High School, where he was a member of the Fabulous Marching Cavaliers and the swim team. He played the tuba, clarinet and bass clarinet. He was a freshman at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA majoring in International Business, where he was a member of the Club Swim Team.

During his youth he played ice hockey at Iceland and Chilled Ponds, swam on various club and community swim teams, and volunteered at the Virginia Beach SPCA. During his summers he worked as a lifeguard and supervisor at Ocean Breeze Waterpark and Tijuana Flats. He loved all types of music, all animals, especially dogs and had a fantastic sense of humor.

Dylan was so much more than this brief obituary can express and meant so much to so many during his short life. He will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Just know that we all have a special guardian angel watching over us now.

The funeral will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel in Norfolk, VA on Saturday, February 5, 2022, with the visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00. Dylan´s smile was infectious and lit up every room he walked into. I remember Dylan as a smart, giggly, compassionate kid who I adored hanging out with at Busch Gardens and who always made my sister laugh. Whenever I think of Dylan, his smile will always warm my heart. The Rowell family is in my thoughts, as Dylan always will be.

Words fail me. I am so sorry for your families loss. All the usual platitudes are inadequate.
Dylan was one of the absolute best students and human beings that I ever had the pleasure to know and teach over a career of 33 years.
When other students asked him for help, he always jumped up with a smile. He was such a wonder. He talked of his family with love often. God must have needed a new Angel with a smile that could light up the heavens.

I had the pleasure of knowing Dylan (and Parker) during his time as a four year old, Kindergartener and then in the elementary summers he spent at Bellamy. His spirit was infectious and he was simply a joy to be around. He was a friend to all and a wonderful brother.
