Edmund Adamson Obituary


Edmund B. Adamson VIRGINIA BEACH - Edmund Barlow Adamson, 87, passed away Aug. 20, 2008. Mr. Adamson was born in Portsmouth and was the son of the Nathaniel and Esther Adamson. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1939. Mr. Adamson continued his education, attended the University of Virginia, VPI and Old Dominion University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country from 1941 to 1945. Mr. Adamson worked for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 35 years in the Design and Engineering Division, finally retiring in 1985. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, where he was involved with the "Joyful Hearts" Sunday school and the Tuesday A.M. visitation. Survivors include his wife, Elba F. Adamson; his son, David W. Hubard and his wife Mary Judge-Hubard, all of Virginia Beach; his brother, Dr. Nathaniel Adamson and his wife Anne White Adamson of Charlottesville, Va.; nephews, Dr. Ned Adamson and his wife Susan Adamson and their daughters, Svetlana and Maria of Harrisonburg, Va., Dr. Chris McManus and his wife Laurie Adamson McManus and their children, Paul Ryan, Caitlin, Kelsey and Charles of Fairfax, Va. A service will be conducted at noon Monday by the Rev. Dick Baker in First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, VA 23502, followed by a reception in the church social hall. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow the reception at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Donations can be sent to Visitation/Mission of FBCN at 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, 23502. A guestbook may be signed and condolences can be sent to the family at www.hdoliver.com.
