Dr. Edwin Cruz

Dr. Edwin Cruz went peacefully to meet his Lord and Savior on December 9th, 2023. He was born in the Bronx of New York City on July 28th, 1952, to the late Benjamin and Dolores Cruz.

Edwin was a humble man, full of knowledge and discipline. At a young age, he completed medical school and he took comfort in caring for others. For over 20 years, he selflessly served in various roles as a member of the United States Air Force, including practicing as a flight surgeon and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. As a physician, he had many specialties but favored pulmonary and critical care medicine. He never stopped learning, spoke multiple languages, and also earned his law degree and MBA.

He beamed with pride over his children and adored his wife. He was a man of God. He loved to travel and visited many amazing places during his life. He loved music, especially smooth jazz, and was an excellent salsa dancer.

Left to cherish Edwin's memories are his wife of 39 years, Deborrah Cruz, and their children - Pamela Reiser MD, Jennifer Shroder MSN RN, and LCDR Thomas Cruz - along with their spouses and children. He is also survived by his siblings - Benjamin, Maria, Ivette, and Leonor - along with their spouses and children.

The world lost an incredible man on December 9th, 2023, and Edwin will be deeply missed. Services will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
