Ella Dean Hines

1937 - 2022

Ella Dean Newsome Hines, 84, Currituck, N.C. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in hospice care at Beth Sholom Village.

Ella Dean was born on August 25, 1937, in Northampton County, NC. In 1959 she met her future husband, Clyde Simmons "C. S. "Hines, Jr. in Norview, Norfolk, VA, and they were married on February 16, 1960. Ella Dean was a homemaker and enjoyed working alongside C.S. in their family business, C.S. Hines, Inc. of 40+ years. Ella loved spending time with her family. She had a passion for cooking, baking, and gardening. If you ever had the pleasure of visiting Ella's humble household, you could not leave without either eating or drinking something there or taking home a goody bag. She was the kindest and most generous person you could ever meet.

Ella Dean was a member of Pilmoor Memorial United Methodist Church located in Currituck, N.C. She loved to go to church every Sunday and especially adored the opportunity to speak to the congregation. As Ella's health declined, Rev. Jerry Cribb would come by her home in Currituck for visits. She so enjoyed his visits.

Ella Dean is survived by her three children, Bruce Ray Hines (Karen), Glenn Allen Hines (Kim) and David Wayne Hines; her seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many very special nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, granddaughter, mother, father, brothers and sisters.

The Hines family wishes to express their many thanks to Freda H. Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care at Beth Sholom, all caregivers and a special thanks to Katie Ferebee and Debra Hurdle for the many years of caring services provided Ella Dean in the comfort of her home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Hollomon- Funeral Home, 524 Cedar Road Chesapeake, VA 23322. The family will receive visitation on Sunday, January 30, 2022, from 12:00pm-1:00pm at the funeral home.
