Elton Earl Baker VIRGINIA BEACH - Elton Earl Baker, 92, went to be with the Lord Feb. 4, 2009. A native of South Norfolk, he was the son of the late Frank and Fannie Baker. Nine months after Elton's birth, his father joined his Savior. Elton's mother later married the late Roy C. Lane who raised Elton like his own son. Elton went to Oceana High School and served in the Merchant Marines during the war. He owned Baker's Esso at Taussig and Granby Street from 1946 until the late 50s, then he opened Arrowhead Union 76 in Kempsville and was there until he retired. Mr. Baker was an avid golfer and loved to work in his garden. He was a member of London Bridge Baptist Church and a Mason. He will always be remembered and missed by his family and friends as a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his wives, Marguerite Belanga Baker in 1951 and Alice Matthews Perry Baker in 1995; his sister, Thelma Baker in 1915; and his brother, William Edward "Willie" Baker in 1980. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters and son, Frances B. Nagle (Jim), their daughters, Debra N. Bosch (Bill) and children, Jennifer B. McGregor (Jason), Alicia B. Kruciak (Matt) and Bryan Bosch, Teresa N. Link (John) and girls, Jamie and Katie Link; Patty B. Bennett (Gary Sr.), son, Gary Lee Bennett Jr. and his son, Tyler Bennett; Carolyn P. Cayton (Curtis Sr. deceased), sons, Curtis Ray Cayton Jr. and his children, Corey and Carley Cayton, Michael Earl Cayton (Tammi), son, Shawn, Kevin Lee Cayton (Kristin) and their son Christopher, Richard Lee Perry III and his son, Richard Lee Perry IV (Connie); sisters, Elsie B. Tudor (Wilkerson deceased), Lois L. Marinelli (Mike deceased), Dorothy L. Atwater (Garland Jr. deceased); and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Baker (Willie deceased). A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, with Pastor Tommy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Mausoleum at Woodland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
