Federico Villanueva Obituary
Federico P. Villanueva VIRGINIA BEACH - Federico P. Villanueva, 64, passed away with his family by his side Sept. 30, 2008. He had the heart of a warrior and fought a courageous battle with cancer. Born in the Philippines, on April 29, 1944, he was the son of the late Gaspar and Cornelia Villanueva. Federico, a Vietnam veteran, retired from the U.S. Navy with 29 years of service as an interior communications chief petty officer. He later retired from Metro Machine Shipyard. Federico was a beloved husband and wonderful father. His devotion for his family was evident. He was of humble character and had a strong work ethic. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Carmen M. Villanueva; children, David Alan Villanueva Sr. and wife Eugenie, Liz Marie Joseph and husband Patrick, Jamie Villanueva and wife Danielle and Erick Villanueva, all of Virginia Beach; sisters, Conchita Delos Reyes, Feli Villanueva, Juanita Noren and Josie Factor; brother, Wilson Villanueva; 12 grandchildren and one on the way; and mother-in-law, Carmen Melendez. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Colonial Grove Memorial Park with Father W. Daniel Beeman officiating. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. Please visit Mr. Villanueva's memorial at www.mem.com.
