Francis Wooten Obituary

Francis Wootten III CHARLOTTESVILLE - Francis "Skip" Wootten III of Charlottesville, Va., died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, from injuries sustained in a skydiving accident. He was 54. Skip has joined his heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and is reunited with his earthly father, Francis "Frank" Wootten Jr., who precedes him in death. Skip loved and was loved by those who remain to honor his memory: his son, Daniel; daughter-in-law, Heidi; and beloved granddaughter, Ava, all of Charlottesville; his mother, Rosemarie Wootten of Norfolk; sisters and brother, Diana Fehlhaber of Norfolk, Andrew Wootten of Williamsburg, Elaine Laux of Pennsylvania and Lynn Meyer of Suffolk and their spouses; his lifelong best friend and "brother," Billy Waldeck of Virginia Beach; his new love, Gina; his nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. We all miss him dearly. Skip was a master carpenter who specialized in finished interior trim work and much more. Skip volunteered much of his time with the Boy Scouts and the Building Goodness Foundation. He spent many years as a leader and Scoutmaster with Troop 111 of Charlottesville. He went on many building missions through BGF in the U.S., Haiti and Guatemala. He thrived in helping and giving to his Scouts and those in need. A memorial service to honor and remember Skip will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at 3 p.m. in the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 405 Talbot Hall Road, Norfolk. The family will receive friends following the service in Rose Hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Boy Scout Troop 111 or the Building Goodness Foundation, both of Charlottesville. A family member can provide specifics.

One of my friends told me this quote when I told him about how Uncle Skip passed on and I couldn't help but laugh because this qoute suites Uncle Skip better than any one I've ever met. Winston Churchill once said "I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter."

The most important thing to remember is he dies while he was doing something he wanted to .Even- though we will all miss him, he has gone to a far better place where he can watch down on all of us.
