Fred Dodd Obituary
Virginia Beach - Fred Dodd, 93, passed into the arms of his Lord on March 14, 2015. He was pre-deceased by 5 sisters, 5 brothers, 2 daughters, and 1 grandson. His memory will be cherished by 2 daughters, 2 sons, 16 grandchildren, and numerous adored great-grandchildren.
Fred was born in Hinton, West Virginia to loving parents George and Bessie Dodd. He was a WWII Army veteran, earning a Purple Heart during his service. He was also a welder at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 14 years, retiring in 1979.
Fred was an accomplished comfort food cook who made incredible apple pies, and an avid gardener who often hand-delivered home-grown fruits and vegetables to loved ones and neighbors.
Above all, the highlight of his life was his family. He was our patriarch, our mentor, and the light of our lives. He will be truly missed. At his request, no funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will be arranged, with details to family and friends forthcoming.

He was the best grandpa a girl could ask for and I am truly blessed that I was one of his many grandchildren. I will cherish all of the memories I have of him; his infectious belly laugh, his tasty pies, hours long joyrides on the weekend, watching the adults play canasta (better not cheat or he'd get mad,) and all of his wonderful cooking. I will miss being able to hug him tight and hear him say "I love you." I will carry you in my heart and soul the rest of my life. Until we meet again...I love you PaPa!!
