Glendora Farmer Obituary

Glendora Farmer VIRGINIA BEACH - Glendora Farmer, the daughter of Charlie Farmer and Mary E. McKinnon Farmer Slade, was born Sept. 10, 1947 in Portsmouth. On Feb. 11, 2011, Glendora was called to join the other saints for a life eternal with the Lord. Her formative years were spent in Norfolk where she attended Norfolk public schools. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Glen, as she was affectionately known, began her work life early. She spent several years at the Norfolk Community Hospital as secretary for the Dietary department while also being a real estate saleswoman. Her last working years were with the Norfolk Department of Social Services as a social worker until she retired. Glendora was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church since early childhood. She leaves to cherish her life her mother, Mary E. Slade of Chesapeake; son, Bobby Richardson of Hampton; two brothers, Randal Farmer of Richmond, Va., and Kevin Farmer of Wilmington, N.C.; one sister, Peggie Phelps of Norfolk; one aunt, Ada B. Winstead of Washington, D.C.; two uncles, James McKinnon of Chesapeake and Charles McKinnon (Barbara) of Jackson, Miss.; four children, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A homegoing celebration will take place at noon Friday, Feb. 18, at New Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
