Gloria Blanchard

Norfolk - Gloria Y. Blanchard transitioned to be with her Lord and Savior on December 23, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Deacon William and Mother Annie Perkins. Gloria retired from the City of Norfolk and the City of Virginia Beach. She leaves to cherish her memories; a daughter, a son, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, a brother in law, a niece, a special daughter and a host of relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held, 11am, Thursday, December 31, 2015, Metropolitan, Granby Chapel. The family will greet visitors, Wednesday, 5-6pm; presiding clergy, Pastor Lagus McCoy. To; Shawn, Spanky, Keith, Alexis and the entire family. I give my condolences to you all I will continue to keep you in prayer. I will forever miss Gloria, painfully and the loss will take more than a lifetime to overcome I am sure. She was like a mother to me. She was a mentor, a best friend, a role model and even more etc... I will remember her for her sense of humor the long talks and the great laughs we shared. Most of all, I will remember the wisdom she possessed and the valued information she instilled in me. Her words and, wealth of wisdom she gave me will forever remain with me as well as her mermory until infinity. Gloria, spent 35 or more years delivering public service to individuals who were in need of assistance. I have applied her valued knowledge and, I am following in her foot steps working in the State of Delaware Department of Social Services. I am thankful as well as blessed to have known Gloria and, will remember Gloria for the kind and, beautiful person that she was.
