Virginia Beach - On May 23rd, 2018 Helen Mercedese Lex, 84, of Parkland, Florida, formerly of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her dear friends, Gerardo and Erika Candino after a brief illness.

Helen was predeceased in life by her son, Eric (Rick) Lex as well as her sister Judy Welch, her brothers Michael Ginther, Danny Ginther and Chuck Mamoudis and is survived by her children Paula Frashier of Douglasville, Georgia, Michael J. Lex of Oklahoma, Bonnie A. Lex and Dr. Alison M Lex both of Va Beach, as well as Helen's surviving brothers Jerry Ginther, Joe Scovall, Butch Ginther and John Mamoudis as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Being the eldest of 10 children, Helen became a second mother to several of her younger siblings and remained a voice of wisdom throughout their lives.

Helen was a multifaceted person who touched everyone she knew in a unique way and will be remembered for her quick wit, her love of reading demonstrated by her vast wealth of knowledge and her amazing gardening skills. While living in Virginia Beach, she created a scenic landscape that rivaled the Botanical Gardens on a smaller scale at her home in the Little Neck area.

Services will be private and her ashes will be scattered at an undisclosed location per her wishes. Please light a

candle in Helen's name and place fresh flowers in your home to enjoy in her honor. She always said a house wasn't a home without fresh flowers in it.

Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her honor. The family of Helen Lex would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to VITAS hospice care in Broward County for their love and compassion during her illness, especially Kelly Outten.
