Ira Harris Obituary
Chesapeake - Ira Lindberg Harris, Born on May 29, 1988, professional actor, singer and dancer passed on from earth to heaven at the Charleston West Virginia Medical Center on February 27, 2012. Ira was a 2010 graduate of Shenandoah University and Conservatory. He leaves to cherish in his memory, his parents, playwright and composer Ronn Harris and musician, Novella West-Harris, brother, AaRonn (Marcia) and sister, Leah-Nikhole, two nephews, two nieces and a host of family and friends. Home-going service will be held at First Baptist Church South Hill in Chesapeake on Tuesday March 6 at 11:11 a.m. The family will receive friends, Mon. at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. from 5-7:30 p.m. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com

I can't believe, after 2 years, I'm just now hearing of this loss. I was fortunate to know Ira, as I worked in an office that he frequented. I have thought of him and his beautiful smile often but never got around to tracking him down. He had a special way of lighting up a room that will never be forgotten. His memory is still here at Shenandoah.

Ronn and Novella I think of you often. Please know that you are always in my prayers. Ira was such a blessing. I remember how as soon as he could sit up on his own (and before) it was evident he had such a thirst for learning. We don't have a choice in who are parents are but I do know without a doubt, Ira was heaven sent to YOU !!

I was proud to have known (of) Ira. I met him at a restaurant in lewisburg. Such a sweet spirited young man. I feel blessed to have gotten to see him perform. Son, we love you and miss you so much. You always had something funny to say to brighten our day if we were feeling down. Your love and support of your family meant so much to us. You loved your neices and nephews so much and they always looked forward to you picking them up from school and taking them out. The last outing, being the zoo. They will forever cherish that day. Your love was shown when you drove down from West Virginia to surprise your Papa with flowers when he was in the hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012. You stressed to us how much you wanted your family to all get together for dinner, or lunch. We didn't know at the time that lunch at the Olive Garden would be our last meal together as a family. Your Papa, you and I joined hands and prayed that God would dispatch his angels to watch over you and protect you as you traveled back to W.V. When you left on Saturday morning at 8:00 Feb. 25, 2012 that would be the last time that we would see each other. You were an organ donar. Three schoarships are being set up in your name. So you see, you are still helping others; giving of yourself. Dear Lord, please give Ira a special place on your heavenly stage so he can continue to sing, act, and dance, in Jesus name, Amen! Ira's uncle Steve informed me of his unfortunate death. Steve is my spiritual brother from Virginia State University. His aunt Linda and her family were my neighbors in Riverdale, MD for a time. Although I never met Ira, I feel that I have lost a spiritual nephew. I have read about Ira's short, yet productive, life on the internet. The Harris family has every reason to be proud of the impact that that young man made in his life. What a magnificent young man! I send to Ronn and Novella and to all the family my heartfelt sympathy and wishes that you be comforted in your memories of such a wonderful son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin, teacher, friend, and brilliant performing artist.

I only met Ira on a couple of occasions, but it was apparent he was a one of a kind individual. He so impressed us with his irrepressible joy and obvious love for others. I don't know why senseless things like this happen, but I want you to know that Ira, in all likelihood, made more of an impact on this earth in his 23 short years then most of us do in 80. I will pray for your family. I know that Ira is dancing in heaven. Bless you.
