James Jarman Obituary

James J. Jarman

Chesapeake - Jarman was called home to be with the Lord on July 21st, 2016 at the young age of 76. He was born in Waynesboro, VA and was a Virginia Beach resident for over 60 years. He was preceded in death by his father & mother: Ernest Jarman & Mary Hite Jarman. Jarman is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Betty Jarman; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Dave Popkin; granddaughter, Sophie Popkin; Brothers, Bobby & wife Linda; Toby & wife JoAnn; Sister-in-Law, Kathie Rogers & husband Bob Rogers; Brother-in-Law, Richard Agnor & wife Carol Agnor; Niece, Jessie Powell; Nephews, Bobby Jarman Jr, Nathan Jarman, Jason Jarman, Michael Jarman, & Scott Agnor, as well as many other great nieces and nephews. He was a dedicated family man who loved his family dearly and took pride in spoiling them at every opportunity.

He started working with his Dad as a plumber when he was 17. He graduated Apprenticeship School in 1963 and started working with Warwick Plumbing and Heating in Newport News, VA on February 20, 1968. Over the years, he worked his way up to be the part owner and Executive Vice President of WP&H as well as other companies. After 40 years mentoring his peers and helping to build the successful company, he retired on December 31, 2008. He was a Master Electrician, Plumber, and Pipefitter and served on the Joint Apprenticeship Committee for the Local Union 110 & 540 in Norfolk and Newport News from 1988 2000. He enjoyed western movies, fishing, crabbing and boating; in recent years he enjoyed cruising to Myrtle Beach for summer vacations. He loved taking on new projects and figuring out how to do the impossible.

Jarman had a generous heart and was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a dedicated and hard worker, who took pride in everything he accomplished. He was humble, generous, and had an amazing sense of humor. He loved to joke around and make people laugh. He touched the hearts of everyone he crossed paths with and rarely had an outing without running into someone he knew. He will be greatly missed.

The visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 6-8PM with a service on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11AM, both will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA. Condolences may be left at www.woodlawngroup.com.
