My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Mrs. Jean Mayes. Mrs. Mayes was the best Civic President, Avon lady, friend and neighbor to our family. She was loved and will be missed by all. Know that she is with her Pokeno buddies in Heaven who are welcoming her with open arms.

So many years have past but I remember your mom from St. John as my mom was on the usher board as well. She passed 6/2001 and Pretlow Funeral home prepared her arrangements as well. I speak peace and comfort over the children during this time of grief as it will pass but the memories are so sweet and should be cherished for the love.

I have known Jean for 56 years. We were neighbors and members of the same church . Jean was a dedicated , active member of her church and community. In addition to this , I observed her dedication to family.
Last year I had the opportunity to celebrate her 89th birthday with her as members of her church and neighborhood gathered for the occasion. This truly demonstrated the love others had for such a caring woman .
She has reached Home before those of us who await that glorious day!
Joan, you have truly been a great daughter. Though you were physically miles away , you were there for whatever your mother needed. I’m aware of the caring acts by other family members as Jean told me during visits with her.One commandment comes with a promise “ Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days
may be long upon the land which the Lord thy givetth thee .” May God continue to bless all of you.
