Virginia Beach - Jean Moye Snead, 78, passed away July 18, 2014 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
She was born in LaGrange, North Carolina on October 12, 1935 to the late Oscar Stanley Moye and Bessie Mae Harris Moye. Jean graduated from Stedman High School near Fayetteville, NC in 1953. She was married for 54 years to Ellis Flynn Snead Sr. of Lynchburg, Virginia who now resides in Virginia Beach.
Jean worked for the C. Lloyd Johnson Company for over 26 years and retired as an Account Executive. During her tenure she represented several international food and consumer products manufacturers. Jean was an avid tennis player and held a membership at the Tidewater Tennis center. She also enjoyed bowling and playing bridge with a group of longtime friends. Spending time with her family and cooking delicious meals were two of her favorite joys. Jean attended Saint Simon's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church where her daughter Dana directs music.
Survivors include her husband Ellis, daughter Tammy Newton and husband Stephen and daughter Dana Marchand and husband Bob and son Ellis F. Snead, Jr., all of Virginia Beach. Also surviving are her four grandchildren Evan and Clay Newton and Jessica and Robert Marchand. Jean was preceded in death by her four sisters, Betty Howell, Georgia Marshall, Dorthy Turnage and Johnette Adcox.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:30pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments , 2002 Laskin Rd. ,Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 24, at St. Simon's By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 308 Sandbridge Rd., Virginia Beach. The service will be in an open air chapel. Please feel free to dress casually.
In lieu of flowers, tax deductible memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Simon's Episcopal Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hdoliver.com.

Such a beautiful woman inside and out! She always had a positive attitude with a gorgeous smile! Mr.Snead, you & your family are all in my thoughts and prayers to make it through these difficult times. I'm happy that I've kept in contact over the years. Ms. Jean always gave great advise or a different way to look at an issue. For a lot of reasons; I'm forever grateful that I've had the pleasure of having her in my life!!! Rest in Peace Ms.Jean

All of Jean's colleagues from the former C. Lloyd Johnson Company are saddened to learn of Jean's passing. She was a delightful lady and an intelligent, effective business partner. She was highly respected by the clients she represented as well as everyone who had the privilege to work with her. She loved her family and spoke of you often.
