Kevin William Pappas

Virginia Beach - Kevin William Pappas, 44, of Virginia Beach, passed away on September 18, 2018 in Virginia Beach. Kevin was born in Agana, Guam at the Naval Hospital to Troy and Claudia Pappas on January 21, 1974. He graduated from Kellam High School in Virginia Beach. Kevin married his best friend, Heather-Elaine Pappas, on December 11, 2015 in Virginia Beach. Kevin was blessed with five children whom he loved dearly. He served in the United States Marine Corps and graduated first in his class at bootcamp. He graduated top in his class for Advanced Infantry Training and was first in his class in Military Police School. Kevin was hand selected to serve on the Presidential Helicopter Security Unit HMX1. After his service in the Marine Corps, Kevin began his career as a police officer on the Norfolk Police Department and later, the Virginia Beach Police Department. Kevin served on the SWAT teams for both departments and was very passionate about his law enforcement career. Kevin was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He loved to laugh and loved to make others laugh even more.

Kevin is preceeded in death by his mother, Claudia Heyson Pappas.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Heather-Elaine; children Drew (25), Tyler (17), Liam (9), Grace (4), and Brooke (21 months); Brother Troy N. Pappas (Jennifer Pappas); Father Troy C. Pappas (Ginny Pappas) and former spouse and friend Courtney Kollarik.

A memorial service will held at 2:00 pm Saturday September 22, 2018 at Grace Bible Church located at 2956 Ansol Ln Virginia Beach, Va 23452, with Pastor Keith Langston. A private burial will take place at a later date with close friends and family. Arrangements are by Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory.

In honor of the immense love Kevin had for his late mother and his passion for the military and law enforcement, the family asks that in lieu of flowers to choose a breast cancer, military, or police foundation/organization in his memory.
