Margaret Pierce DIETHER

DIETHER, Margaret Pierce Age 94, died October 15, 2015 in Sebastopol, CA. At the time she died, she lived in her daughter's home, and had been lovingly cared for by friends, family, and Hospice for six months. Born in Lakewood, Ohio on January 14, 1921, Margaret graduated from Lakewood High School in 1939. She married Carl F. Diether, Jr. in 1942. That marriage resulted in three children, 11 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren. Her first marriage broke up in 1965 and she made her way to the Bay Area where she had longed to live for many years. There she met her second husband, Raiford Reynolds, and enjoyed a forty-year relationship with him until his death in 2008. She graduated from California State University at San Francisco with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Santa Rosa, where she volunteered in the office for many years. Margaret had a long life during which she observed many changes. In the words of one of her granddaughters, Margaret was "an avid reader, follower of politics, and history buff. At family dinners, she would regale us with her sense of humor and breadth of knowledge regarding the momentous happenings that occurred during her lifetime." Because she had so many progeny, Margaret asked that only the most recent ones be mentioned. The names of her greats and great-greats are: Ravenna, George, Corinne, Kylie, Elle, Cordelia, Adelaide, Isaac, Justin, Alyssa, Akemi, Kaelyn, Captain, Kimball, Calvin, Logan, Bridget, Sterling, Eigen, Moriah, Fiona, Kira, Audrey, Carter, Caleb, Emmitt, Casey, Josh, Megan, Zachary, Nina, Xyahnea, and Zoe.
