Mary Beasley Obituary

Mary Ann Beasley departed this life on Monday, August 2, 2022. She was born on June 22, 1959, in Norfolk, Virginia, and lived most of her life in Virginia Beach. Mary Ann did live for some time in the mountains of North Carolina, where she attended Montreat College, and the mountains of Virginia, working in Innisfree Village in Albemarle County. Time spent in these scenic areas fostered her love of nature and the Blue Ridge Mountains in particular. She also enjoyed the quiet beauty of the family farm on the Perquimans River in North Carolina.

Mary Ann loved to read. She worked with books in retail for many years, and knew the perfect read or coffee table book for any friend or family member's special day.

Mary Ann also loved to travel. She enjoyed meeting people from different cultures and learning about their countries.

She was an active member of Galilee Episcopal Church, volunteering in the Galilee Gift Shop.

Mary Ann is survived by her brothers Bobby Beasley (Franny) and Allen Beasley (Barbara), sister Katharine Parker (Tom), nephews and nieces Will Beasley (Sarah), Meg Beasley, Bobby Beasley (Allison), Thomas Parker, John Beasley, Lindsay Allbritton (Dixon), and Holley Peaseley (Lee), and four grandnephews and grandnieces. Mary Ann's wry sense of humor and infectious laugh will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Galilee Episcopal Church or to Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy.

A Memorial Service will be held at Galilee Episcopal Church on Friday, August 12, at 12:30 pm, following a private burial.
