Mason Walker Obituary

Mason Vernon Walker, 28, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on July 30th in a tragic accident while on vacation in Florida. Although he left us far too soon, Mason left this world a better place.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Robert "Bob" Walker and Joane Galloway Walker (Donnie), whose love he knew and felt every single day. He is also survived by his siblings, Storm Walker, Adam Walker (Rebecca), and Joy Chatburn (Anthony). He has many nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his cat, "Mittens." Mason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Durrell and Julia Walker and Richard and Janice Galloway of Virginia Beach.

Mason was a devoted son, loving brother, and friend. Always selfless and dependable, he was there when you needed him, never expecting anything in return. Mason loved days on the beach surfing or relaxing with friends and family, from here to Ocracoke.

A natural athlete, Mason excelled in every sport he played. Before graduating in 2012, he was the varsity captain of the First Colonial High School boys' volleyball team. He was selected First Team All-Eastern Region and All-Beach District. As an outstanding outside hitter, Mason proved to be the "go-to guy," his coach said in a Virginian Pilot write up.

In recent years, Mason enjoyed playing golf on a short workday and on weekends with his friends. He valued time with his friends and family. He, his brother Storm, and their friends enjoyed playing disc golf and bowling. Mason, Storm, and their dad often spent time together shooting pool.

A couple of years after high school, Mason began working for A&B Floors where he learned how to install, sand and finish wood floors. He learned quickly and excelled. He was always the first to show up, rarely missed a day, and always paid attention to the details. He became a well-liked crew leader and trained others in his field. He took great pride in his work and proved to be a very skilled craftsman. Mason also enjoyed woodworking when time allowed, buying a lathe, and turning wood into various creations.

Mason had a beautiful smile, a warm heart, and he loved his family and friends deeply. He left a good and lasting impression on everyone he met, and he will forever be remembered as that fun-loving yet gentle, pure soul that he was.

Mason's family will hold a public memorial at Altmeyer Funeral Home Maestas Chapel on August 27, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach, VA 23451. www.altmeyerfh.com
